It is always a good idea to travel and discover surrounding destinations, especially since Dehradun is only 2.5 hours away for Delhiites.
These are some ideas to consider if you are organising an exploratory trip.
With the opening of a 3.5 kilometre section, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has achieved a new milestone. This is a part of a bigger 31.6 kilometre project that aims to drastically reduce travel times between the two cities. The Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Access Controlled Expressway, which is 212 km long and includes six lanes, was constructed for Rs 12,000 crore, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The purpose of the expressway is to reduce travel time from 6.5 to 2.5 hours.
This expressway, which is being built in four stages, will connect Dehradun, Uttar Pradesh, to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway via Akshardham in Delhi, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and the EPE interchange at Khekra in Mandola, Baghpat, Shamli, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Modern amenities, including rest places every 25 to 30 miles, six to twelve lanes, and cutting-edge safety features will also be included in the expressway. In addition, modern infrastructure, such as more than 110 underpasses, five rail overbridges, and four large bridges, will be present on the bridges. Also, 16 carefully placed access and exit locations will be included. There is a 100 km/h speed limit, which makes the route safer and faster.
For Delhiites, Dehradun is only two and a half hours away, therefore it’s always a good idea to travel and see the surrounding areas. Here are some things to consider if you are considering an exploring trip.
- Rishikesh: Because Rishikesh is situated on the foothills of the majestic Garhwal Himalayas, it boasts breathtaking scenery. The charming city is surrounded by beautiful mountains, acres of forest, and gorgeous riverbank promenades.
- Bali Pass: Following a very difficult hike, you can arrive at the Bali Pass from the village of Sankri. You may enjoy some of the most breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including the Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, and Swargarohini peaks, as it comes to a close at Janki Chatti.
- Dhanaulti: At an astounding 2,250 meters above sea level, the small village of Dhanaulti is situated on the Chamba-Mussoorie Road. Because of its elevation, you can get stunning views of the neighbouring Himalayas from practically anywhere.
- Har Ki Dun: Har Ki Dun develops exquisitely with each step. The alpine-forested valley, which is roughly 45 km long, provides some of the most breathtaking sweeping vistas of the Garhwal Himalayas.
- Chakrata: This cantonment region is located close to Dehradun. Chakrata is 7000–7250 feet above sea level and is situated directly between the Yamuna and Tonnes rivers.
