Several social media reports have claimed that Pakistan has hanged two YouTubers for uploading content that praised India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sending shockwaves across the online community in the neighbouring country.
According to these reports, at least 12 YouTubers, including two prominent content creators Sana Amjad and Shoaib Chaudhary, have been hanged by the Pakistani Army, for praising India for performing better than Pakistan. These speculations were fuelled by sudden inactivity on their channels.

Sana Amjad and Shoaib Chaudhary gained popularity in Pakistan for their street interviews and public reaction videos and were also quite popular in India. Shoaib’s channel “Real Entertainment” and Sana’s self-titled channel became popular for their coverage of Pakistan’s current affairs and public opinion. Their content also touched upon reactions to India-related themes.
However, both YouTubers have been absent from their platforms for over 19 days, fuelling social media reports that the duo were arrested and hanged by the Pakistani Army. Some suggested that these actions served as a warning to other content creators against showing Pakistan’s ground realities.
Were Sana And Shoaib Hanged By Pakistan Army?
One of the videos created by Sana praised PM Modi and was titled ‘Modi Sada Sher Hai’ (Modi is a lion), and covered his visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the abolition of Article 370. The video was reportedly removed from YouTube.
Several users in Pakistan believed that these YouTubers were showing Pakistan in a bad light and were praising India to earn more views and ad revenue because of a larger user base in India. Moreover, Pakistani content creators have lashed out at their administration over political instability, corruption, unemployment and a financial crisis, leading to comparisons with India.
However, Pakistani journalist Arzoo Kazmi has dismissed reports of the YouTubers being hanged by the Army. She wrote ‘Fake’, while reacting to a post on X that claimed the alleged execution. She said the Pakistani government has taken strict actions against the accused, but reports of an execution are untrue.
Other social media users also dismissed the reports, saying the YouTubers have been called in for questioning and have been barred from uploading content on the platform till the investigation is complete.
Nevertheless, the disappearance of these two content creators created an atmosphere of fear in the Pakistani YouTube community and sparked a new debate on freedom of speech and expression.
