Mbappe remains one of the most expensive players at Real Madrid, with his weekly wages estimated to be around €288,000 per week.
Spanish football giant Real Madrid reportedly ignored a crucial medical report of Kylian Mbappe before signing him from Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer. The French striker has yet to match the expectations of the Madrid fans who see him as the generational successor of the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since shifting his base to the Spanish capital, Mbappe has registered 10 goals and two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. His performance, however, was quite underwhelming in some important fixtures, including the last El Classico where the Los Blancos lost to Barcelona 4-0.
And now, a report by Revelo has claimed that Real Madrid were well aware of Mbappe’s lack of form before bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu. The medical report is said to have highlighted how his physical prowess had declined season after season since winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
As per Revelo, Mbappe had a poor score on several parameters, including distance covered, high-intensity efforts and sustained speed. These factors, however, had no impact on his transfer as the Real Madrid hierarchy perhaps kept faith in his scoring ability.
Physical decline is quite common for footballers when they reach a certain age. But for Mbappe, speed has always been a major asset. When he first emerged on the international circuit, the 25-year-old forward impressed one and all with his controlled run along the left flank.
In March, when Mbappe was still at PSG, he completed a 100-metre stretch in 10.9 seconds during a Champions League fixture against his current team Real Madrid. As part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side, he continues to operate from the left flank but his overall performance has not been the best this season.
Kylian Mbappe had been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid over a few years. The La Liga giants finally managed to secure his signature this summer. He joined as a free agent and even reportedly accepted a pay cut to make it happen. Mbappe, however, remains one of the most expensive players at Real Madrid, with his weekly wages estimated to be around €288,000 per week.
In his last appearance in the LaLiga, Mbappe struck the second goal for Real Madrid who notched a 2-0 victory over Getafe at home.
