Diwali, the festival of the lights and one of the most eagerly awaited festivals, will be celebrated on October 31. According to Local 18 Uttarakhand, on this occasion, decorating the house’s main entrance with mango leaves, earthen lamps and rangoli holds utmost significance. It is believed that when Mango leaves are used to create a toran or decoration, it symbolises positive energy which leads to an auspicious environment. Shakuntala Belwal, an astrologer associated with Shiv Shakti Jyotish Kendra in Hira Lal Marg in Rishikesh revealed more information about it. According to Shakuntala, when the devotees use the mango leaves for the toran, it instils positive energy in the house.
Shakuntala further said mango leaves are considered sacred and when hung at the main entrance, maintain a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere in the house. Thus, it prevents the negative energies from entering the house. It also maintains peace, prosperity and happiness in the house.
Toran Protects House from ‘Buri Nazar’
Buri nazar or the evil gaze word is frequently used in Indian households. Toran made of mango leaves is also considered an effective way to protect the family members from the evil eye. Not only the house decoration but Toran is also important from a religious point of view. As per mythology, the Toran prepared from mango leaves, helps devotees please the Gods and Goddesses. The devotees then receive their blessings.
