Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support and military aid provided by the United States following an acrimonious meeting with Donald Trump. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.”

The ‘thank-yous’ from Zelenskyy came after Donald Trump chastised the Ukrainian leader for what he described as a lack of respect for US military aid. In a meeting at the White House, Donald Trump told Zelenskyy. “I gave you the javelins to take out all those tanks. Obama gave you sheets. In fact, the statement is: Obama gave sheets, and Trump gave javelins. You got to be more thankful because let me tell you, you don’t have the cards. With us, you have the cards. But without us, you don’t have any cards.”

America Is Vital For Ukraine, Zelenskyy Says After Trump Meeting

Even though Zelenskyy found himself berated by Donald Trump and US Vice President JD Vance, he said, “America’s help has been vital in helping us survive, and I want to acknowledge that.”

Seeming to seek remedy in Kyiv’s relationship with the US- one Zelenskyy cannot endure without amid Russia war- the Ukraine leader said, “Despite the tough dialogue, we remain strategic partners. But we need to be honest and direct with each other to truly understand our shared goals.”

Zelenskyy Says He’s Ready To Sign Minerals Deal

As Zelenskyy left the White House meeting without signing an agreement with Donald Trump on critical minerals, he said, “We are ready to sign the minerals agreement, and it will be the first step toward security guarantees. But it’s not enough, and we need more than just that. A ceasefire without security guarantees is dangerous for Ukraine. We’ve been fighting for 3 years, and Ukrainian people need to know that America is on our side.”

Explaining how crucial the minerals deal is for Ukraine, Zelenskyy reiterated, “We want peace. That’s why I came to the United States, and visited President Trump. The deal on minerals is just a first step toward security guarantees and getting closer to peace. Our situation is tough, but we can’t just stop fighting and not having guarantees that Putin will not return tomorrow.”

Russia War Is About Real Lives, Not Territories, Zelenskyy Says

Zelenskyy bristled at Vladimir Putin- continuing his tough rhetoric on the Russian President- as he said, “When someone talks about losses, every single life matters. Russia invaded our homes, killed our people, and tried to erase us. This isn’t just about territories or numbers—it’s about real lives. That’s what we need everyone to understand.”

Zelenskyy On What He Wants From Donald Trump

The fractious meeting between Donald Trump and Zelenskyy underscored the deeply uncertain future of American assistance to Kyiv which the Ukrainian leader dismissed by saying, “I want the US to stand more firmly on our side. This is not just a war between our two countries; Russia brought this war onto our territory and into our homes. They are wrong because they disrespected our territorial integrity.”

Striking a conciliatory tone after the US President castigated him, Zelenskyy said, “Our relationship with the American President is more than just two leaders; it’s a historic and solid bond between our peoples. That’s why I always begin with words of gratitude from our nation to the American nation.”
