Dries Mertens called time on his football career with his contract with Turkish champions Galatasaray set to come to an end at the end of the month.
The 38-year-old Belgian forward, who is Napoli’s all-time top-goal scorer with 148 goals to his name for the Naples-based side, won the Turkish Super Lig thrice with the Aslan.
Mertens, who made 109 appearances for his national side Belgium, netted 21 times for his country.
Mertens began his senior career with Belgian outfit Gent before being loaned out to Eendract Aalst and AGOVV, before securing a full-time deal with the latter in 2007. He moved to Utrecht in the year 2009 before making the switch to PSV Eindhoven in 2011.
His most successful club spell came with Italian giants Napoli where he played from 2013 to 2022, making over 290 appearances for the side and clinching the Coppa Italia title twice and the Supercoppa Italia once.
