Pumpkin is known for its delicious taste, but did you know it also offers a range of health benefits? Both the vegetable and its seeds are particularly good for your eyesight. Speaking to Local18, an Ayush Medical Officer shared more about the vision-boosting properties of pumpkin seeds.
Dr Smita Srivastava, an Ayush Medical Officer from Raebareli with 10 years of experience, confirms the health benefits of pumpkin, particularly its seeds.
Pumpkin seeds are packed with nutrients like magnesium, iron, zinc, fibre, and an abundance of vitamins, earning them the title of a vitamin powerhouse.
Dr Srivastava explains that the vitamin A in pumpkin seeds plays a crucial role in enhancing eyesight and can even provide relief from conditions like night blindness. Therefore, it is beneficial to consume both the vegetable and its seeds.
Dr Srivastava recommends consuming pumpkin seeds on an empty stomach each morning. You can enjoy them dry-roasted as a breakfast option, grind them into a powder for adding to salads and curries, or simply eat 8 to 10 seeds raw or roasted. This daily habit can contribute to improved eyesight and provide relief from dry eyes.
