After a four-year hiatus, global pop sensation Dua Lipa made a triumphant return to Mumbai, captivating her Indian fans with an electrifying two-hour performance at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex on November 30. The 29-year-old singer, currently on her Radical Optimism Tour, brought the house down with a high-energy setlist that blended chart-topping hits and soulful solos, leaving the audience spellbound.

Lipa, who last performed in Mumbai in 2019 at the OnePlus Music Festival alongside Katy Perry, expressed her joy at being back in the city. “I love you, Mumbai!” she exclaimed, feeding off the audience’s energy. “Tonight is about us—about living in the moment together.”

A Mesmerizing Stage Presence

Dressed in a striking white corseted one-piece with a mesh overlay, Lipa owned the stage with her signature sensual moves, dramatic hair flips, and seamless vocals. She kicked off the night with Training Season and followed it up with a parade of hits, including New Rules, Be The One, Dance The Night (from the Barbie movie soundtrack), One Kiss, and Break My Heart.

The highlight of the evening came during her performance of Levitating when Lipa surprised the crowd by incorporating a trending mashup with Woh Ladki Jo from the Bollywood classic Baadshah (1999), originally starring Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna. Breaking her choreography, she grooved to the iconic Indian track, sparking wild cheers from the audience.

“I’ve heard the mashup before, and I think it’s amazing,” Lipa shared, adding her admiration for Bollywood’s King Khan. “Shah Rukh Khan is my favorite actor!”

A Night to Remember

Lipa’s set showcased not only her musical prowess but also her connection with her Indian fans. “I’m overwhelmed by the energy and love,” she said. “This city holds a special place in my heart. I started my year here, and wrapping it up in Mumbai feels like coming full circle.”

Earlier this year, Lipa enjoyed a quiet visit to India with her family, exploring Jaipur, Rajasthan, where she embraced the local culture, visited historic sites, and went on a wildlife safari. Reflecting on her time in India, she said, “The culture, the people, the energy—it’s all so magical. It keeps drawing me back.”

The evening culminated with a rousing encore. As the crowd chanted her name, Lipa returned to perform Physical before closing with Houdini, the lead single from her latest album. For a final treat, she performed her global hit Cold Heart, a collaboration with Elton John that blends four of his iconic tracks, including Rocket Man and Sacrifice.

A Love Letter to India

Dua Lipa’s return to Mumbai was more than just a performance—it was a celebration of her bond with India and her fans. “Thank you for waiting for me, for supporting me, and for being here tonight,” she said, her voice filled with gratitude. “This was truly a special night, and I’ll carry it with me always.”

With her radiant energy and heartfelt connection to the audience, Dua Lipa reaffirmed her status as one of the most beloved global pop stars in India. Fans are already hoping her next visit won’t take another four years.
