Earliest complete Ten Commandments tablet heads to auction

The oldest known Ten Commandments tablet, inscribed in Paleo-Hebrew and dated from 300–800 AD, will be auctioned in New York on 18 December.

Unearthed in the Middle East in 1913 during railroad excavations, it was once used as a paving stone before its historical significance was recognised.

The tablet, featuring a Samaritan directive to worship on Mount Gerizim, is expected to fetch $1–2 million.
