ECI Election Results 2024 Maharashtra and Jharkhand:Â The results of the fiercely-contested Assembly Elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be announced on Saturday, November 23, bringing an end to a hectic election year. The results of by-polls in Kerala, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will also be declared tomorrow.
The Elections for the 81-seated Jharkhand Assembly took place on November 13 and 20, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faced off against the Congress and Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc is aiming to retain power with its welfare schemes, while the BJP-led NDA is hoping to reclaim it. The voter turnout was recorded at 68.95%.
All 288 constituencies of Maharashtra went to polls in a single phase on November 20 (Wednesday), to decide the winner of an epic clash between the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comprising of Congress. The election feud was marked by the splits in the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party.
The voter turnout was recorded at 66.05 per cent in Maharashtra, besting its turnout from 2019. Most exit polls predicted a clear majority for the Mahayuti alliance – BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar’s NCP and a routing for the MVA – Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.

The counting of votes for the Assembly Elections as well as by-elections will start at 8 am on Saturday, November 23. The postal ballots will be counted first, after which EVMs will be opened at around 8:30 am at all the counting centres.

The BJP and its allies banked on its development programmes like the “Ladki Bahin” programme, along with the “Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai” slogan aiming to unite the Hindu votes. On the other hand, the MVA attempted to corner the Mahayuti government over corruption, split of Shiv Sena and NCP and lashed out over its “batenge toh kitenge” slogan.
In Jharkhand, the BJP reiterated its “Batenge Toh Katenge” slogan while also vowing to free the state from the infiltration problems. The Hemant Soren government attacked the BJP over misusing central agencies and is hoping to retain power.
