Ellen DeGeneres has decided to ditch Botox and fillers.

The stand-up comic, 66, said on her final Netflix special ‘Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval’ that she is embracing getting older and has stopped cosmetic procedures on her face.

‘I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me. I realize now, looking back, that I said that at the height of my popularity,’ Ellen shared on the show, which premiered on Tuesday.

‘Hey, if I look older than when you saw me last it’s because I’m older than when you saw me last. And also I stopped doing Botox and filler.’

Ellen also revealed she has been battling a string of health conditions, and started therapy after toxic workplace allegations infamously made against her impacted her mental health and led to the axing of her eponymous talk show.

‘I used to do Botox and filler back when I didn’t care what other people thought of me… such a waste of time to worry about what other think of us,’ she said.

‘Just a waste of energy. We’re just guessing, we don’t know. It’s impossible to guess what people are thinking.’

She also talked about her litany of health issues.

Ellen told how, after taking a bone density test, she discovered she had ‘full-on’ brittle bone disease osteoporosis.

She added: ‘I don’t even know how I’m standing up right now. I’m like a human sandcastle. I could disintegrate in the shower.’

‘It’s hard to be honest about ageing and seem cool.’

‘I had excruciating pain one day and I thought I tore a ligament or something and I got an MRI and they said, “No, it’s just arthritis.”‘

‘I said, “How did I get that?” And he said, “Oh it just happens at your age.”‘

Ellen has also been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder.

She added about the conditions: ‘So, I have ADD, I have OCD – I’m losing my memory.

‘But I think I’m well adjusted because I obsess on things, but I don’t have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place.

‘So, it takes me all the way around to being well adjusted, I think.’

Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval is now available to stream on Netflix.

In July, Ellen revealed that she will be ‘done’ with showbusiness after her latest Netflix special.

DeGeneres hit the stage for a stand-up show in Santa Rosa, during her Ellen’s Last Stand… Up tour, two years after her talk show was canceled following the toxic workplace scandal that tarnished her reputation as TV’s favorite host.

During the show the comedian discussed her exit from the spotlight and joked that she’s next going to be cancelled for being ‘old, gay and mean.’

When questioned if she might return to fame sometime in the future, she firmly shut down the possibility.

‘This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.’

DeGeneres’ scandal was sparked by a single tweet penned by comedian Kevin T. Porter in March 2020 asking people for the ‘most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean,’ which amassed 2,600 replies.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show went off the air in 2022 after 19 seasons on NBC following the toxic workplace scandal that tarnished her reputation as TV’s favorite host

Four months later, BuzzFeed News published an exposé featuring one current and 10 former employees of the Louisiana-born funnywoman’s former self-titled daytime talk show alleging racism, workplace bullying, and sexual harassment.

By August 2020, WarnerMedia had launched an internal investigation, Ellen had issued a formal apology to her 255 employees, and executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman, and Jonathan Norman were all fired from the show.

DeGeneres – who also apologized to fans on air – broadcast her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 26, 2022 after 19 seasons.

She later branded it a ‘coordinated misogynistic’ attack on her and she has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since the talk show’s finale aired on May 26, 2022.
