Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who landed into a controversy by waving his right arm in a way that to many appeared like a “Nazi salute” during the inauguration rally of US President Donald Trump, is now trolling Wikipedia and appealing for its defunding after the encyclopedic website wrote about the Hitler salute.

Musk on Tuesday shared what looked like an entry in Wikipedia and read, “In his speech during the second Trump inauguration, Musk twice extended his right arm towards the crowd in an upward angle. The gesture was compared to a Nazi salute or fascist salute. Musk denied any meaning behind the gesture.”

Along with the post, Musk attacked news media and Wikipedia and called them a purveyor of disinformation.

“Since legacy media propaganda is considered a ‘valid’ source by Wikipedia, it naturally simply becomes an extension of legacy media propaganda!” wrote Musk. He further appealed to his followers to “defund” Wikipedia.

Reacting to this, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales trolled Musk for purchasing X in 2022 for $44 billion.

“I think Elon is unhappy that Wikipedia is not for sale,” he said. Wales went on to ask Musk if there was “anything you consider inaccurate in that description?” and added that the content is not propaganda but “fact. Every element of it.”

Musk’s Transgender Daughter Attacks Father For His ‘Nazi Salute’

The estranged transgender daughter of Elon Musk Vivian Jenna Wilson made a subtle attack on her father over the alleged “Nazi salute” he performed during Trump’s inauguration rally.

The 21-year-old, who was disowned by Musk after she changed her gender and name at the age of 18, said on Instagram’s Threads, “I’m just gonna say let’s call a spade a f***ing spade. Especially if there were two spades done in succession based on the reaction of the first spade.”

In another thread, she wrote, “I don’t know why ya’ll are reacting with such vigor, I’m clearly only talking about card suits. I mean I have ADHD and this was CLEARLY just an accident that people happened to interpret to mean something other than just card suits. After all, there’s no proof I’m not just talking about card suits. People assuming that I’m not just talking about card suits just goes to show how dishonest people/the media can be.”

How Did Musk Land In ‘Nazi Salute’ Controversy?

In a video, Elon Musk was seen making a one-armed gesture during the rally which went viral and was compared by many to a Nazi salute.

Reacting to the criticism, Musk said, “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

Musk also faced criticism of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which is an organisation that fights anti-Semitism. Taking to X, ADL wrote, “It seems that Elon Musk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute.”
