Billionaire Elon Musk announced that his time leading the Department of Government Efficiency, known as “DOGE,” is drawing to a close. Elon Musk, who has been instrumental in the cost-cutting task force since its inception earlier this year, confirmed his departure from the Donald Trump administration in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Elon Musk was appointed as a “special government employee,” a designation that permits individuals to work in a government capacity for 130 days annually. Counting from President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, Elon Musk’s term would naturally reach this limit by the end of May.
