Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s mother Maye Musk reacted to a social media post questioning why Vice President JD Vance’s wife Usha Vance was not acknowledged despite becoming the first Indian-American and Hindu to serve as the second lady of the United States. Maye Musk said, “Usha is even lovelier in person, smart and charming.”
This comes as Usha Vance has been targeted on social media for her marriage to JD Vance who is a Christian while she is not. The couple have three children Vivek, Ewan and Mirabel.
Usha Vance was also trolled when JD Vance was announced as Donald Trump’s Vice-Presidential candidate. At the time, her Hindu faith was called into question.
JD Vance had then said, “Look, my attitude to these people attacking my wife is, she’s beautiful, she’s smart. What kind of man marries Usha? A very smart man and a very lucky man, importantly.”
Usha Vance became the first Indian-American Second Lady, who is also a Hindu, after her husband JD Vance was sworn in as the 50th Vice President of the US. She is the daughter of Indian immigrants and her parents’ ancestral village is Vadluru in Andhra Pradesh.
