Former Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag was seen boarding a private jet moments after he was sacked at Old Trafford. Hours after his dismissal as the Red Devils’ manager, the 54-year-old made a swift exit from the club. A chauffeur was appointed to drop the Dutch coach at Manchester Airport so he could return to the Netherlands. Before boarding his flight, the Dutchman was spotted sharing a hug with a member of the airport staff. A football page uploaded a snap of the moment on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “An emotional Erik ten Hag sharing a hug with a member of airport staff before jetting off to the Netherlands.”

Erik ten Hag was spotted in a black Mercedes when he left for Manchester Airport. A fan shared a few photographs of the vehicle on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Erik ten Hag hides in the back of the car heading to the airport as he leaves the country to go to the Netherlands.” Ten Hag faced another hiccup while heading to his home country as his flight was delayed by over two hours as per FlightRadar, via the DailyMail.

Manchester United chiefs relieved Erik ten Hag of his managerial duties at Old Trafford on Monday morning, October 28. The Dutchman was, reportedly, summoned to a meeting at Carrington where he was informed that he would no longer continue as the club’s manager. The decision ended Ten Hag’s two-and-a-half-year managerial tenure in England while providing him with a £15 million payout. He led Manchester United to two trophies during this limited time. He won the 2022/23 EFL Cup to end the club’s trophy drought since 2017 before adding a second crown last season by beating Manchester City to secure the FA Cup.

As for the ongoing campaign, Manchester United endured a lacklustre start under Erik ten Hag, winning just four of the 14 matches. Their 1-2 loss against West Ham in the England top flight was the last straw as the Dutchman was dismissed soon after. Manchester United are currently in 14th place in the Premier League, winning three of the nine matches. They are now preparing to take on Leicester City in the EFL Cup Round of 16. Club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the interim manager until a suitable replacement is found. The EFL Cup knockout clash will take place on October 31 at Old Trafford.
