Ollie Pope scored his ninth Test hundred on the second day of the first Test of the five-match series between India and England at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday.
Pope struck his second consecutive hundred in back-to-back Tests, reaching the three-figure landmark in just 125 balls.

It is Pope’s second hundred against India after being dropped by Yashasvi Jaiswal, when he was batting on 60.

Jasprit Bumrah (3/48) dismissed the dangerous Joe Root (28), but Ollie Pope’s unbeaten hundred took England to 209/3 at stumps on Day Two of the first Test, in reply to India’s first innings total of 471.
England still trail India by 262 runs.
Pope was batting on 100 off 131 balls, including 13 fours, and was accompanied by Harry Brook, who was yet to score.
Bumrah provided a crucial breakthrough by getting Root caught in the first slip, keeping India ahead.
Earlier, India lost seven wickets for 112 runs on Day Two, with Rishabh Pant’s 134, Shubman Gill’s 147, and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 101 contributing to their substantial total.
