Legendary English striker Gary Lineker is set to step down from his role as the presenter for BBC’s flagship show ‘Match of the Day’.

Lineker, who is BBC’s highest-paid presenter, will leave the show at the end of the season after an incredible 25-year stint hosting the show.

However, the former England star will continue to work for BBC and will follow through on his commitments up until the FIFA 2026 World Cup, following which he is set to leave BBC entirely.

The 63-year-old has remained hugely popular among fans and viewers despite the controversies he has courted for his political views over he years.

The former England forward has recently launched his own podcast production company, which includes “The Rest is Football, ” a podcast he co-hosts with Premier League legend Alan Shearer and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

His portfolio also includes other shows such as “The Rest is Politics”.
