Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said he awaits Donald Trump’s proposals to end war with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he is awaiting US President-elect Donald Trump’s proposals on the plan to resolve the ongoing conflict with Russia, as he indicated that the war could end next year. CNN reported.
He said that the war would end “when Russia wants it to end”. “When America has a stronger position. When the Global South is on the side of Ukraine and on the side of ending the war,” CNN quoted Zelenskyy as saying at a conference on food security.
“It will not be an easy path, but I am confident that we have every chance to do it next year,” the Ukrainian President added.
He said he is open to proposals from leaders of African, Asian, and Arab countries.
“I also want to hear the proposals of the new president of the United States of America. I think we will see them in January and we will have a plan to end this war,” he said.
Zelenskyy had expressed hope last week in a television interview that the war will come to an end “faster” after Trump begins his second tenure as US President.
“We must do everything to ensure that the war ends next year through diplomatic means,” he said.
In the recent past, Trump has time and again raised questions on the continued US aid to Ukraine. During the election campaign, Trump often claimed that the Russia-Ukraine war would not have started if he had been the President.
He said in July this year that he would end the war in one day after taking over the office.
