An espionage expert has issued a chilling warning to Vice President JD Vance over his use of an Apple Watch.
Instagram account Watches of Espionage, which posts about the role timepieces play in spying, called out Vance as a ‘priority target for hostile intelligence services.’
‘Dear Mr. Vice President, Please Take Off Your Apple Watch,’ the account said in a post on Tuesday.Â
‘Despite its many lifestyle benefits, the Apple Watch and other connected wearables pose significant counterintelligence risks, especially for politicians who are priority targets for hostile intelligence services and APTs.’Â
The account said it is ‘not the type to call out problems without offering solutions’, and suggested Vance switches to other similar options from Breitling, Sangin Instruments and Marathon Watches.Â
‘We suggest a few analog tool watches for the Marine turned VP that are not only backed by intriguing heritage but also completely safe from the prying eyes of foreign intelligence services,’ the post read.Â
The account added its warning to Vance ‘is apolitical’, and ‘if an apple watch were worn by a VP from another party, I would write the same piece.’Â
Fans of the page agreed Vance’s Apple Watch could be a cause for concern, as some questioned why the Secret Service would allow him to keep using it.Â
An espionage watch expert has issued a chilling warning to new Vice President JD Vance over his use of an Apple Watch as he is a ‘priority target for hostile intelligence services’Â

The expert cautioned Vance to swap out his Apple Watch to keep him ‘completely safe from the prying eyes of foreign intelligence services’Â

One commenter questioned: ‘How has the Secret Service not made him remove it?’Â
Another suggested that Vance may not use the same kind of Apple Watch that everyday people can pick up at a store.Â
‘Me thinks this is not your ‘average’ Apple Watch,’ they said. ‘I like to think USSS would have taken steps to mitigate any issues.’Â
Although Apple Watches are among the most popular wearable smart watches in the US, the gadgets are not immune to being hacked.Â
Apple Watch data is known to be encrypted with one of the most secure technologies, a 256-bit AES encryption. However, this does not prevent the device itself from being hackable.Â
It comes as Vance has been on a media blitz since being sworn-in as Vice President two weeks ago, with many touting him as the frontrunner to become the 48th president in 2028.Â
In an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo this week, Vance was asked if he was considering running for the White House in his future.Â
‘We’ll cross that political bridge when we come to it,’ he responded.Â
‘We’ll see what happens come 2028.Â
‘But the way that I think about this is, the best thing for my future is actually the best thing for the American people, which is that we do a really good job over the next three and a half years.’Â

As Trump’s vice president, Vance is already seen by many as frontrunner for the 2028 Republican nominationÂ

While Vance is the clear favorite for the Republican nomination, Vice President Kamala Harris remains the Democratic base’s support despite her loss to Trump in NovemberÂ
A recent poll for DailyMail.com showed Vance as runaway frontrunner among voters for the 2028 nomination.
Some 38 percent of voters backed him from a list of possible candidates, according to the survey conducted by J.L. Partners.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came second on 15 percent, followed by Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur who is now considering a run for Ohio governor, and Sen. Ted Cruz on six percent.Â
On the Democrat side, Vice President Kamala Harris remained the clear favorite to win the 2028 Democratic nomination despite her loss in November to Donald Trump.Â
She won 30 percent support in the poll from J.L. Partners, far ahead of former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.Â
