A man has been rushed to hospital after an explosion believed to have been caused by a barbeque fire struck an apartment in Sydney’s west
Emergency services were called to Meredith Street, in Bankstown, on Thursday just after 3pm after a man in his 30s fell from a window of a unit block.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia the man suffered serious burns to his arms, leg and face.
He was treated at the scene and was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry told Daily Mail the man was cooking on the barbeque on the balcony on the second floor of the apartment.
Supt Dewberry said crews were called to the scene following a gas leak and the man jumped from the balcony.
‘He suffered serious burns. The scene was cleared at 10 past four,’ he said.
