Family of missing teenager Mai Sai Vue say her body has been found by police divers after disappearing on Halloween

Divers have found the dead body of a teenage girl who disappeared on Halloween night.

Mai Sai Vue, 18, was last seen around 11pm on October 31 in the Civic Center area near Grove and Larkin street in San Francisco, prompting a huge search over of the last four weeks.

Her family confirmed on Wednesday Mai Sai’s body was recovered by divers on November 28. Autopsy results are yet to be released.

Katelynn Vue, Mai Sai’s sister, shared a Facebook post acknowledging her sister’s death.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that my sister, Mai Sai, has been found,’ she wrote.

‘Although it is not the results we have wanted, we are still grateful to have her found.’

Mai Sai was last spotted in a pirate costume consisting of a white dress, black leggings and black heels – seemingly celebrating the holiday before she abruptly vanished.

Her family began frantically searching for her near the Golden Gate Bridge early last month with the belief that she was somewhere in the area before disappearing.

Dozens of pictures were also shared by the family on social media in the span of the last few weeks – pleading for the community to help find their loved one as time is a crucial element in missing person cases.

Katelynn regularly posted about her missing sister on Facebook, along with the hashtag ‘letsfindmaisai’ which began quickly circulating online, leading to increased awareness and more people who joined in the search.

In a heartbreaking post last month, Katelynn shared a harrowing image of a group of people praying for her sister’s return while on a deck overlooking a body of water.

Katelynn described the close-knit relationship she had with her sister on a gut-wrenching GoFundMe update following the devastating discovery.

‘Mai Sai was a very intelligent and sweet person who had so much patience. As my only sister, she was my rock and the only person I could count on,’ she wrote.

‘Without my baby sister, I am lost, broken, and unable to focus on the fact that I no longer will have someone to lean on or to call my sister,’ she added.

‘A short but sweet lifetime together is never enough.’

The GoFundMe page is now being used to raise money for Mai’s funeral expenses as the family are now making arrangements to properly say their final goodbye.

‘I am still in disbelief of having to ask for everyone’s support and favor in donations of her funeral expenses as she is my only sister who I had hoped to grow old with,’ Katelynn wrote on the fundraiser page.
