Although the movie received a dismissive response from the critics, it emerged as a box office hit and remains an enduring favorite among JLo’s fanbase.
The leads were together again as Ralph honored JLo during an event at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, held at the Parker Palm Springs resort.
‘We really must stop meeting in hotels like this,’ JLo, 55, joked after Ralph, 62, brought her onstage at Variety’s 10 Directors To Watch And Creative Impact Awards.
Social media flew into a frenzy over the reunion, with one remarking: ‘Maybe I’m crazy but I would love these two together.’

Ralph was honoring her for her overall career as well as her new movie Unstoppable, the producers of which included Ben and his longtime friend Matt Damon.
In his speech, Ralph recounted the plot of Maid In Manhattan and hailed the ‘determination’ with which she has lived her life.
‘Once upon a time in another life and perhaps in a different epoch of movie storylines, there was this Republican senatorial candidate mooching about in a hotel in Manhattan, and there was as well in this same other life a maid in this hotel,’ he said.
‘This wannabe Republican senator was struck by her good looks, but he couldn’t quite truly see her. This maid was masking something in her demure and mindful way. She was sweet and charming, but actually she was concealing something,’ he said.
‘She was hiding a kind of superpower. Behind this maid’s mask there was indeed a force, a force of creativity, a force of action, something so powerful which just couldn’t stop,’ the Harry Potter actor went on.
‘An unstoppable force was coming out of this humble and unassuming maid in the hotel, and this maid, in fact, possessed extraordinary wings that unfolded, and off she flew,’ added the The English Patient icon.

‘In this life, in this story, she has already been flying with determination from an early age, because I think she knows that she has something inside her which she must honor as she flies high,’ he continued.
‘She is honoring and fulfilling her extraordinary creative spirit, and sharing it, shining a light on the lives of so many people, inspiring them and brightening their days.’
He showered praise on her as an ‘amazing dancer and singer’ and a ‘beautiful actor,’ and spared a mention of the ‘rather amazing pole-dancing skills’ she picked up to play the queen bee of a crime ring of strippers in her acclaimed 2019 drama Hustlers.Â
JLo posted a video of the speech to Instagram, writing: ‘I cannot thank you enough Ralph Fiennes for your beautiful words and for our little Maid in Manhattan reunion today. It was wonderful to see you. You brought tears to my eyes. (That’s why I was sniffling through my whole speech LOL).’
She glowingly wrote: ‘I love you. Thank you so much…working with you was one of the great highlights of my career so far. I say so far because I hope I get to do it again someday soon for Maid in Manhattan 2…You never know…’
Fans on social media gushed over the images of Ralph and JLo together, with one saying: ‘Well, she looks great! This is still one of my favorite romcoms of all time.’
‘I wonder what vacation home this bought for Ralph,’ joked one as another complimented Jennifer’s outfit, writing: ‘I’m loving this lilac on her.’
