Father-of-six is killed in horror accident while visiting Texas city for his birthday

A father of six has been killed by a hit and run driver while celebrating his upcoming birthday and his five year anniversary with his wife.

Dustin Dorcz, who had children aged from 6 to 18, was traveling with wife Lindsey Dorcz from their hometown of Lufkin when he was struck by car on the shoulder of I-10 eastbound.

The horrific crash occurred during the early morning hours of September 15, and Lindsey was not with him at the time.

Lindsey said a witness told her ‘my husband was very close to the guardrail, far away from the roadway.’

Houston police are still searching for the driver who killed Dustin, 35, adding that there is no official suspect or vehicle description, KHOU 11 reported.

Sergeant Dallas with the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division spoke to KHOU 11 on the night of the fatal crash.

‘We did have a witness that did stay on scene, unfortunately, the driver did leave,’ she said.

Lindsey made a tearful appeal to the driver to admit to what they did and come forward.

‘If that person is watching this, maybe God can work on you and you can give my husband the justice he deserves and come clean,’ she said. ‘I’ve been in a haze for the last eight days without my husband.’

According to Dustin’s obituary, he died just ten days before his 36th birthday on September 25.

‘Dustin loved grilling, wind therapy on his motorcycle, fishing, dancing, singing, and was always the life of the party. Most of all, he loved his family. Dustin was a 100% family man. He had many great friends that he considered family as well,’ his obituary read.

‘We’re going to figure it out because this should not happen — lives should not be taken. Think about my family that is suffering right now … think about my children who don’t have their dad,’ Lindsey said.

Police said if anyone has information about the crash, they should contact the Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
