Barcelona are set to return to their traditional home base Nou Camp for a Joan Gamper Trophy match ahead of the 2025-26 La Liga season.

Barcelona have officially announced the reopening date of their iconic home stadium, Nou Camp. After two years of redevelopment, the revamped venue will host its first match on August 10, when the team takes part in the Joan Gamper Trophy, their traditional pre-season fixture.
Originally slated to be ready last year, the renovation project faced multiple delays. Although the stadium won’t be fully completed by August, it will still welcome fans for the high-profile friendly.

In an official statement, the club said: “Remaining works include the completion of the new third tier, the dual VIP ring, the roof installation, and the final touches to various interior spaces, as well as the urban development of the stadium’s surrounding area.”
The Joan Gamper Trophy serves as a curtain-raiser ahead of the new La Liga season, and this year it marks an emotional return to the club’s spiritual home.
“During this period, the Club will strive to ensure the highest level of comfort for members, fans, and visitors to the Spotify Camp Nou, facilitating access and adapting services to offer the best possible experience.”

Barcelona’s opponents for the Joan Gamper Trophy fixture are yet to be confirmed but reports are that Serie A club Como could be invited. The Nou Camp will operate at a reduced capacity between 50,000 and 60,000 fans for the match. The capacity of the ground will increase up to 1,05,000 once the redevelopment project is completed.
The work has cost Barcelona £1.25billion since it started, but the returns are expected to make up for the expenses over time, with the ground anticipated to earn the club an extra £25million revenue per year. Ever since leaving Nou Camp, Barcelona have been playing their home games at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium located nearby.
