Women’s fertility testing starts with discussing the medical history, especially to check for menstrual cycle patterns. Tests for tracking ovulation, gauging ovarian reserve (the number of possible eggs remaining in a woman’s ovaries), and hormone levels are other common components. Pelvis Ultrasound imaging(sonogram) and diagnostic surgery (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) are two minimally invasive methods used to search for structural causes of infertility.
Fertility testing in men uses semen analysis to determine the quantity and quality of sperm. Hormone levels, as well as hereditary variables, may be assessed as needed. A post-ejaculatory urinalysis or testicular ultrasonography may also be performed to find underlying causes for conditions such as retrograde ejaculation.
