FKA twigs outrages fans by pulling out of Coachella last-minute for ‘unprofessional’ reason

The Perfect Stranger singer, 37 – who recently cancelled tour dates last month – shared her ‘devastation’ over the situation which she explained was due to ‘ongoing visa issues.’

She had been scheduled to perform at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California on April 11 and April 18. The star also cancelled her upcoming performance at AXE Ceremonia in Mexico City this weekend.

‘im devastated to share the news that due to ongoing visa issues i am not able to see through any of my scheduled tour dates for the remainder of april across north america, including ceremonia and coachella,’ she wrote on both X and Instagram.

FKA twigs continued, ‘it pains me to say this because i am so excited to bring you a creation that i have poured my soul into…’

‘And i believe is amongst my strongest work and i know this news impacts so many of you that have already made plans and spent money in order to see these shows. i promise that i am working to reschedule the affected dates as quickly as possible.’

She concluded her post by telling her fans that she will give ‘more updates as soon as i have them.’

The star also included photos of her tour that kicked off in March which is in support of her third studio album EUSEXUA which dropped earlier this year in January.

Fans took to social media to share their frustration over the last-minute cancellation of various concerts. Some also slammed the star for pulling out of the Ceremonia festival for a total of three times.

One penned, ‘Again, girl?? What’s the point of spending money on tickets, flights, and hotels just to get canceled on for the third time? You’ve had months to sort this out… Via issues at you big age? Be serious. Your fans deserve respect.’

Another wrote, ‘You don’t need a visa for Mexico. Three times it’s too much already,’ and a fan shared, ‘sounds like a porous managed tour.. difficult to make money on these.’

‘You do not need a visa to perform here in Mexico. Third time you cancel here…and at the last moment,’ one typed.

They added, ‘You are totally lacking empathy (Which is impressive being an artist…) towards your followers that traveled and saved money to see you, by cancelling at the last moment. Today you’re losing fans, definitely.’

One X user commented, ‘likes there’s no way u can’t have ur visa since ur announcement on ceremonia, and that was november last year, what a disappointing move from u.’

A fan also shared, ‘twigs… ceremonia is not going to refund anyone for your unprofessionalism…, in mexico city sometimes festivals are the way we can attend performances like yours.

‘Maybe if you include mexico city on the eusexua tour, we have many venues here.. maybe we can forgive you.’

Another simply typed out, ‘This is a joke, honestly,’ and one added, ‘eusexua officially flopped asf.’

However, others came to the defense of FKA twigs and one penned, ‘we love you forever and can’t wait to see the show when you’re able.’

Over on Instagram, another added, ‘Don’t worry your true fans will be waiting for the show of a lifetime!’

The singer’s latest announcement on Friday comes shortly after she previously announced cancellation of dates for her North American tour after an error by a member of her production team resulted in her having no visa.

She revealed the tour had been ‘challenging’ on the production side, which led to the cancellation and postponement of shows in the United States.

The ‘heartbroken’ singer announced late last month in March that she was forced to back out of her shows in Chicago, Toronto and New York because the ‘correct paperwork’ wasn’t filed.

In a video posted on X, she explained: ‘Hi everyone, I wanted to come on here to talk to you and address some things that have been happening behind the scenes in my world.

‘So as you may have seen I have been performing the Eusexua tour in the UK and Europe and that’s been incredible, the reception, the crowd and the artistic expression.

‘Everything has just been completely amazing and I feel so grateful to be apart of such an amazing process,’ she added.

‘Behind the scenes practically with production and the more practical side of putting this tour together so today I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner to have our visas to come for the USA to perform.

‘It means that by no choice of my own I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago and Toronto shows. For those of you who are wondering why I have to pull out of Toronto because it’s not part of the United States, it’s because of routing and the complex beast that touring is.

‘I don’t take this lightly, I am completely devastated to be honest with you, I am heartbroken. All I wanted to do is be there with you and bring Eusexua…

‘I have not performed in the USA since 2019 and it really feels like a home away from home, and this is just such a huge blow and I feel super let down and I’m looking into how and why this happened and I’m making sure I have the support to correct this.

‘So with that being said, I will be rescheduling these shows and information will be coming on that very shortly. I can’t wait to bring Eusexua to you, it’s truly been one of the greatest achievements of my life.’

FKA twigs continued, ‘It’s been this amazing, spiritual, enlightening whirlwind and all I want is to be with you and be performing for you. I am truly devastated and I am so sorry to everyone if this has affected your plans.

‘Thank you so much for understanding. We’re going to reschedule and I’m going to come to you harder and stronger than ever. Thank you so much, love you and I’ll see you soon.’

The star was due to perform in Chicago, Illinois on March 26 and in Toronto, Canada on March 30 which would have been followed by two shows in New York on April 3 and 4.

The Eusexua tour started got off to a rocky start when the star cancelled the opening two shows in Prague and Berlin based on ‘shipping issues.’

In January, FKA twigs opened up on what inspired her album EUSEXUA – and the ‘healing program’ she created alongside it.

'I don't take this lightly, I am completely devastated to be honest with you, I am heartbroken. All I wanted to do is be there with you and bring Eusexua…,' she said in the clip

She appeared on the latest episode of Spotify’s Countdown To podcast series, where she was interviewed by legendary singer-songwriter Imogen Heap.

Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, shared her insights into the album’s origins and what the word means to her, ahead of its January 24 release.

Along with the coining of the term EUSEXUA, FKA twigs has created THE ELEVEN: eleven pillars of movement, designed to be a form of self-healing, every one being informed by her lifelong study of movement as a dancer.

Describing the album, the singer said: ‘EUSEXUA is really this mixture of slightly psychadelic, childlike, playful exploration of what it is to be human. But then mixed with that, this raw, dirty, hard, sexual grit as an undertone.

‘I created these 11 pillars and made up these words for them. I started to, adjacent to the album, make up these words like croning, which is an addiction to technology.

‘The 11 pillars were aspects of my life that I felt if I looked at and made adjustments to then I could be closer to EUSEXUA.’

She continued: ‘For me, EUSEXUA is creating purely and unabashedly, it’s feeling more comfortable in my body sexually, it’s being more present and being able to be at that pinnacle of human experience as much as I possibly can.

‘So I made up this 11 steps healing program which is a lot of gyrating and shaking. It’s incredibly raw and primal movement.’

Speaking about why she made the album, FKA twigs admitted: ‘I had no choice. Before EUSEXUA I was hanging on by an eyelash. It feels like a matter of survival. It comes back to these 11 pillars that I had to create to be able to make EUSEXUA and these 11 pillars are there to help me.

‘Now I’m giving them to the world. It helped me all of my life. I cannot make art if I am surrounded by past versions of myself,’ the performer further expressed.
