Florida man turns in his own father after making ‘revolting discovery’ on his phone

A man in Florida turned in his own father when he found child porn on his phone after trying to help him log back into his email, authorities have claimed. 

Gene Follin, 63, of Kenneth City is facing 20 felony charges after his son Jared, a 30-year-old city planner, made the allegedly vile discovery while trying to help his father with his disabled email account. 

Follin’s Gmail account had been flagged by Google after his account for possessing uploaded illicit images of children on his Google Photos, according to his arrest affidavit. 

According to the felony complaint, Jared informed police he found ‘child pornography on Gene’s cell phone after Gene needing accessing his email.’ 

The investigation resulted in Follin’s arrest on Tuesday for possession of child pornography. Follin admitted to ‘saving child pornography’ when questioned by Kenneth City Police, the affidavit claimed.

Investigators said they found 952 files containing child pornography and child erotica, the affidavit said, and some of the images were of girls as young as five to eight years old. 

Follin was released from custody on Thursday after posting $100,000 bond, according to online records. Each of the 20 second degree felony charges hold a maximum prison term of 15 years.

It’s unclear if he has entered a plea at the time. As of Saturday afternoon, Follin’s case had not yet been entered into the Pinellas County Court’s database.

 A GoFundMe for Follin was organized in 2017 after he suffered a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. 

The fundraiser states that Follin, father of three and grandfather of three, is ‘loyal, compassionate, dependable, and kind.’ 

‘He is always there to make you smile and let you know that life is much more than the malarkey we each face every day.’ 

Follin’s fundraiser raised over $2,000 and further said: ‘Geno has been there for so many people when they need, and now we have to be there for him.’
