A former McDonald’s chef has revealed why the fast food chain’s value meals won’t bring customers back.
Mike Haracz, who worked at the company until 2019, frequently takes to TikTok to spill insider knowledge about the fast-food chain’s prices, burgers and jaw-dropping secrets.
Most recently, the food expert, who is based in Illinois, took to the video-sharing platform to admit that McDonald’s $5 value meal will not bring in more profits for the company.
The meal consists of a McDouble or McChicken, small fries, four-piece chicken nuggets, and a small drink.
Although the chain recently made the decision to extend the value meal, the chef revealed that it won’t do any good.
In a viral video, which has so far amassed over 41,000 views, he detailed whether the value meal will ‘bring customers back.’
However, Mike noted that the value meals will never make customers happy.
He captioned the video: ‘Former McDonald’s chef talks about their value plans.’

Illinois-based expert Mike Haracz, who worked at the company until 2019, took to TikTok to spill the secrets about the fast-food chain
‘My answer is not really for two main reasons,’ Mike began, in reference to a question about whether the meal deal would entice customers back.
‘Number one: McDonald’s will always – and will only – do things that are operationally easy for them to do.
‘The second point is that they are not bringing back the dollar menu, which is what a lot of people want,’ he said at the start of the video.
He noted that ‘inflation’ is the reason the chain will not bring back the low prices.
‘McDonald’s is in the position to try to optimize things in the restaurant.
‘They would rather [offer] “buy one little more premium item, get another one for a dollar” or the $5 bundle meals because more people that would come in and order the $1 items would just make the drive-thru lines extra long.
‘[McDonald’s] wants to increase the average check of people ordering food. They want people coming into the restaurant and ordering a lot of things on the check – not just dollar menu items where they make the least amount of profits,’ he explained.
At the end of the video, the chef noted customers won’t be pleased with the bundle meals, concluding: ‘I don’t think that this will bring people back because this is not what people are asking for.’
