In a surprise and rather rare interruption, a fox stole the limelight during the opener of The Hundred cricket league on Tuesday at the fabled Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The fox’s interruption amused commentators and spectators alike as it darted down the green grass before making its way out of the area of play, to rather loud ovation to boot.

Keyton Jennins and David Warner opened the innings for the Spirit as they added 5 off 9 and 9 off 10 respectively before they fell prey to Jordan Clark. Jennings was the first to go and was replaced by Kane Willaimson for the Spirit, before the Kiwi fell to Jason Behrendroff for 9 off 7, before Warner fell.

Wayne Madson, made 10 off 11 deliveries before Rashid Khan removed him, while Nathan Sowter dismissed John Simpson for a single run. Liam Dawson alos fell for a solitary run as Rashid bagged his seocnd scalp of the day.

Ashton Turner, who top-scored for the London-based side made 21 runs off 14 deliveries before Sam Curran sent him back to the hut before Luke Wood and Richard Gleeson fell to the English all-rounder, while Ryan Higgings fell to Rashid Khan.

Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye opened the chase for the defending champions as the latter, who made 18 off 20, was removed by Dawson, before Jacks who added a run-a-ball-24 was sent back by Dawson, who struck again.

Dan Worall removed Jordan Cox for 5 off 9 before Curran made 14 off 9 before Turner scalped the southpaw. Sam Billings and Donovan Ferreira stood unbeaten to see their team over the finish line with 31 balls to spare.
