Single women are constantly turning to social media to find out the perfumes that men love, taking to TikTok or Reddit to ask which scents guys like.Â
Many times, the answers include sweet but not overpowering scents, including vanilla, lavender, and cinnamon.Â
Other women said they’d rather wear scents members of the opposite sex universally detest, with one content creator in a viral video declaring, ‘I’m trying to repulse men,’ before asking for recommendations.Â
Women raced to the comments to share the scents men seemed to despise – including patchouli, powdery florals, cherry, and musky incense smells.
They agreed men seemed to dislike ‘aggressively earthy’ odors.Â
Some ladies worry that wearing any type of fragrance will cover up their natural pheromones and prevent potential partners from approaching them.Â
To find out, FEMAIL reached out to fragrance experts about the best possible perfumes.Â
Fragrance expert Darryl Do told DailyMail.com that sometimes wearing perfume is better to mask a natural scent, especially if it’s not already appealing.Â

Marilou, based in Montreal, said that ‘being a little conservative on perfume application is generally a good tip’ because ‘you want to lure a partner in closer and not overwhelm with a strong scent.’Â
The fine fragrance founder said she’d ‘avoid overbearing scents and heavy florals and favor airy and lighter scents.’Â

Vanilla and lavender are also scientifically proven to be quite popular.Â
A collaborative study between Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet and the University of Oxford previously discovered that vanilla is the most universally pleasing smell.Â
Lavender is equally well-liked, according to a study from the American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgeons, which said it actually increased penile-blood flow by 40 per cent.Â
