Remember those magical hobbit homes from The Lord of the Rings? The underground havens from J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy have enchanted fans worldwide, inspiring captivating staycations. One such charming escape is AsanjA Dragonfly, located in Murbad, Maharashtra, and owned by a mother-daughter duo, which has captured the hearts of social media users. So, what makes this hobbit retreat stand out?

In an Instagram video, content creator Priyam Saraswat gives us a tour of AsanjA Dragonfly, showcasing its stunning views of Machindragad and Gorakhgad. This getaway offers the perfect blend of whimsy and adventure.

“We’re going into the land; it’s a hobbit home,” says the mother in the video.

As we step inside, we’re greeted by the cosy, cave-like charm of the living area, beautifully enhanced with striking blue accents. The focal point is an impressive rock-turned-coffee table, topped with glass, seamlessly blending with the serene and earthy ambiance of the home.

“Everyone likes to get here together and chill,” the owner shares.

Next up is the open-plan kitchen, a true showstopper with its elegant brown cabinets that complement the home’s cool theme. The mother points out a remarkable feature — a rock embedded in the floor, integrated beautifully into the kitchen island. “This was embedded in the land; it’s natural,” she explains.

As per the owner, the house’s roof features little potholes allowing natural light to come in, accompanied by quirky mushroom-like decorations that the owner humorously refers to as her “personal dinner set.” Moving to the master bedroom, she notes, “The master bedroom maintains the curvilinear lines; even the headboard is mosaic with a rounded edge. Everything is rounded.” This design choice connects the home to its natural surroundings.

The attached bathroom continues this theme, featuring rocks that sit naturally within the space. “In the master bathroom, we wanted to keep the natural feel,” she says. Bright and airy, the bedrooms boast curved windows and skylights, inviting in abundant natural light.

Outside the home features a stunning infinity pool that offers an unobstructed view of the majestic mountains. “This is all natural and this can never be taken away,” the mother adds.

The rooftop garden, complete with stump-like seating, not only provides a unique space for relaxation but also allows natural light to enter the house.

The daughter also showcases her room, complete with ledges at the windows to enjoy breathtaking views of the lush greenery outside.

When asked about the vision behind the mesmerising property, the mother expresses her that how much she adores nature, stating, “I’ve always wanted to be very close to nature. For miles, you can’t see anything except the mountains. So, the home is called Asanja. My husband is a Sindhi and I’m a Sikh. Asanjo in Sindhi means ours, and sanjha in Punjabi means for everybody. Although this property is ours, I’d like everybody to be a part of it.”

This underground inspired by hobbit homes from the Lord of the Rings is also listed for rent on different travel sites.
