The wedding season is in full swing across the country, and Indian weddings are inseparable from traditional attire. When thinking about weddings, the image of the Manyavar brand often comes to mind. This prestigious brand was founded by Ravi Modi, who built an empire in traditional Indian fashion through his company, Vedant Fashions.

The Rise of Vedant Fashions

Vedant Fashions was established in Kolkata in 2002 and owns popular brands such as Manyavar, Mohey, Manthan, Mebaz, and Twamev. Under Modi’s leadership, the company reached new heights and became a success story, culminating in a successful IPO in 2022. This achievement not only bolstered the brand’s prominence but also made Modi one of the richest individuals in India.

Ravi Modi’s entrepreneurial journey began in a very modest manner. At the age of 13 years, he started working as a salesperson in his father’s clothing shop. A few years later, he took a loan of Rs 10,000 from his mother to start his own business, eventually founding Vedant Fashions.

His vision led to the creation of ‘Manyavar‘, now a renowned name for wedding and festival wear. Manyavar is known for its exquisite kurtas, sherwanis, jackets, lehengas, and saris. The brand gained even more popularity through endorsements by Bollywood celebrities like Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Kartik Aaryan.

Today, Vedant Fashions operates in 248 cities across India, with 662 stores and 16 international outlets. The company is currently valued at Rs 32,000 crore, and Modi’s personal net worth has risen to around Rs 28,000 crore. As of April 2023, he is ranked 64th on the list of India’s richest individuals and 1,238th on Forbes’ World Billionaires list.
