Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday addressed Rising Bharat Summit 2025 and spoke on a lot of matters from US tariffs to Manipur and the cash row involving a high court judge.
Speaking at the summit, Shah said that the tariff issue is a very complex matter.
“It would be too early to calculate the impact. Not just India, tariffs have been imposed on other countries as well. It is possible that we can export more goods. This is very complex matter,” he said.
President Donald Trump has imposed 26% tariffs on Indian exports to the US. The Indian government is in touch with the US over a trade agreement.
When asked about the next BJP chief, Shah said that nothing has been decided yet. “When he/she will file the nomination, people would know,” he said.
The Home Minister said that the government has trust on the Supreme Court’s process to investigate the cash row. “The Supreme Court has formed the committee. We should have trust on the process. When the report comes, everything will be clear… We are waiting for this,” he said.
A huge pile of cash was recovered from Justice Yashwant Varma’s residence last month. However, Justice Varma has refuted all allegations, stating that the room where the cash was found was accessible to numerous individuals due to its separation from the main residence.
On process of appointment of judges, Shah said, “A new debate has begun after this (cash row). We are waiting to see what the committee does.”

“The President’s rule is not complete. Assembly is in suspended animation. We are hopeful. We are holding talks. We are hoping that things will improve,” he said.
President’s rule in Manipur was imposed on February 13 after the then chief minister N Biren Singh resigned on February 9. The state assembly, which has a tenure till 2027, has been put under suspended animation.
