Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Dalla, an aide of top deceased Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, has been detained by the Canadian police in connection with a shootout, sources told CNN-News18 on Sunday.

Top government sources said Indian agencies are not showing interest in follow-up because of the status of the relationship between Ottawa and New Delhi.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claims of the Indian government’s involvement in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar has soured ties between India and Canada.

“Extradition is a tough job and in today’s scenario (it is) next to impossible. (Also) they have not arrested him so far, only detained,” the source said.

Dalla’s detention comes shortly after reports of his involvement in a shootout in Canada around October 27-28. Sources have said Halton Regional Police have detained him on Sunday.

Punjab police on Sunday also arrested two members of Canada-based Dalla’s gang’s two members from Mohali for their alleged involvement in the murder of a Sikh activist last month.

The accused also are allegedly involved in the murder of another individual in Madhya Pradesh. They were arrested during a joint operation of the state special operation cell, the anti-gangster task force and Faridkot Police, the Punjab director-general of police Gaurav Yadav said.
