Former Wales star Gareth Bale expressed his interest in the takeover of his hometown club Cardiff City FC as a consortium led by the former Tottenham and Real Madrid winger tabled an offer to buy the club, currently operating in the EFL League One.
The sum offered up by the consortium is reported to be around the £40 million mark for the intended purchase of the club that slipped from the English Championship in the bygone season.

“We are interested in getting Cardiff. It’s my home club, it’s where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them,” Bale said.
“To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true,” the 35-year-old added.
“I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs,” he declared.
Bale, who was born in the Welsh Capital City, started his youth career with Cardiff Civil Services before switching to Southampton academy in the year 1999.
The Welshman made his senior debut for Southampton in the year 2006 before making the move to Tottenham Hotspurs in 2007, where he spent half-a-dozen seasons before Real Madrid came calling. The Spanish giants shelled out close to £86 million to rope in the forward who thrived at Spurs after having moved up the field.

Bale enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Madrid clinching the La Liga crown thrice and the UEFA Champions League title five times over, in addition to the three UEFA Super Cups and FIFA World Cups, while also picking up the Copa Del Rey, Supercopa de Espana once each.
However, relationships between the Spanish Capital city club and the player deteriorated eventually, leading to his exit from the Madrid club in 2022 to MLS side Los Angeles FC, on the back of a loan spell at former side Tottenham.
Bale also has over a century of caps for his nation Wales and has managed to net 41 times for The Dragons. He played a crucial role in the country’s run to the semi-final of the Euro 2016.
