A teenager has died after falling 15m into a river on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services received reports of the incident on the Coomera River near Riverbreeze Crescent, in Maudsland, at about 6.40pm on Sunday.
An 18-year-old man was found at the scene and succumbed to his injuries despite the best efforts of first responders.
The teenager is understood to have been using a rope swing on a nearby embankment before falling into the river.
A desperate search for the young man was launched by the Queensland Fire Department, who deployed a rubber dinghy to traverse the river.

Queensland Police are not treating the death as suspicious and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Emergency services were seen carrying rafts into the water and working through the night as they attempted to retrieve the body.
Heartbreaking news of the death sent shockwaves across the country with devastated Aussies offering their condolences on Facebook.
‘Condolences to all who love him and will now forever miss him,’ one wrote.
A second added: ‘My heart goes out to the family, friends and emergency services.’
