Google Chrome continues to face new security threats and now a major warning alert has been issued by the Indian government this month. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has raised the alert with a high severity ranking, which ought to get millions of Chrome users in the country extremely concerned. The issue impacts not only the Windows and Linux users but even those using Chrome on Macs can be targeted by hackers because of the latest issues.
What Chrome Users Should Know
The alert from CERT-In clearly highlights the issue with the Chrome browser and the components that pose risk for billions. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Out of bounds read in V8, PDFium & Media; Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory in DevTools; Use after free in Profiles and Inappropriate Implementation in Browser UI, Media Stream, Selection & Permission Prompts,” the note says.
The agency also states that if a remote attacker manages to exploit these vulnerabilities, they can easily get the targeted victim to allow them to access their device and steal data.

Chrome Security Update: How To Install Now
To be safe, users must download the latest available software update for Google Chrome on Windows, macOS and Linux. You can do this by heading over to the three-dot menu on Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome. Google has listed the security fixes that come with the stable channel update.
