Taskmaster’s Greg Davies has revealed the Hollywood star he would love to appear on the popular show – as well as the royal who ‘hasn’t returned his calls’.

The comedian and his Taskmaster co-creator Alex Horne were all smiles as they attended the 63rd Rose d’Or Awards on Monday evening.

And it proved a triumphant night for the pair, as their beloved series took home the prize for Comedy Entertainment.

As they reflected on their success, the hilarious duo revealed some high-profile wish-list names they would love to take part in the show.

‘We want Prince William on it, but he hasn’t returned our calls, not once,’ Greg, 56, joked.

And while Alex, 46, suggested one of Elon Musk’s children might be an interesting addition, Greg revealed he has his sights set on Hollywood – in particular, Ryan Gosling.

‘I want Ryan Gosling on the show,’ the Inbetweeners star revealed. ‘He’s quite funny. Yeah, I think that would ground him.’

It comes as Greg announced last month that he was leaving Twitter, now known as X, for good.

Addressing his decision exclusively to MailOnline at the awards, he explained: ‘Social media is just not a good thing for me, I get very easily drawn in and waste too much time.’

He went on to reveal that he was ‘amazed’ to be named in a list of celebs who left the platform in the wake of Donald Trump’s election win.

‘I will say, I didn’t make any political statement when I left Twitter. I just didn’t want to be on X anymore,’ he said. ‘I don’t begrudge anyone for staying there, good luck to them!’

On celebrating their own win, Greg and Alex kept their plans light-hearted.

‘We will have four shots of something,’ they laughed, before revealing their plans for a special ‘boys’ Christmas party’ – just the two of them – at their favourite Nordic Bar in London”s West End.

‘I’m always surprised that people in other countries like it,’ Greg admitted as he reflected on Taskmaster’s international success.

And the Taskmaster empire continues to expand, with 17 seasons under its belt and a spin-off, which launched last month.

Junior Taskmaster sees 25 children aged between 9 and 11 years competing to win a Golden Head trophy.

But for the spin-off, Greg handed over the reins to Rose Matafeo, 32, and Mike Wozniak, 45.

Speaking on his absence to Radio Times in October, he explained: ‘I probably would be far too scary for children and I wouldn’t be able to moderate myself.’

Held at King’s Place in London, the 63rd Rose d’Or Awards brought together hundreds of industry professionals and stars to honour outstanding achievements and creativity in international television.

Among the winners was Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, 66, who was awarded Performance of the Year for his portrayal of Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses.

On his win, the Oppenheimer star said: ‘Playing Jackson Lamb has been so enjoyable that to be recognised by the Rose d’Or for this role is absolutely amazing.’
