Grim update in hunt for missing fisherman swept off the rocks

Police divers have discovered a man’s body after a search was launched for a missing fisherman on the New South Wales South Coast.

Police were called to a location about 5km from Boyds Tower at Edrom, south of Eden, about 5.10pm on Friday, following reports a man had been swept off rocks into the water.

A search commenced for the man and was suspended at about 7.20pm.

The search continued over the weekend and resumed today on Monday before, police divers located the body of a man in Leather Jacket Bay about 10.15am.

Officers attached to Marine Area Command responded, were aided by officers attached to South Coast Police District, Marine Rescue NSW, SES and Westpac Rescue Helicopter. 

Officers attached to South Coast Police established a crime scene.

The body is believed to be that of the missing 34-year-old fisherman.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
