Gujarat won the right to host the 2029 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) on Thursday and the event is scheduled to be held in the state’s Capital city of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Ekta Nagar.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to express his delight on the successful bid.

“India has won the bid to host the 2029 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Ekta Nagar, following a comprehensive bid presentation to the WPFG Federation in Birmingham, USA,” the Chief Minister said.

The 62-year-old also added that the right to host the presigious event was in line with the ethos of National Premier Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in an attempt to make the Gujarati capital a sporting hub.

“This global victory reflects the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and is a big step towards making Ahmedabad the sporting capital of India,” the post added.

Harsh Sanghavi, Gujarat Minister of State for Sports, also welcomed the development and said, Gujarat is ready to make its mark on the world sports map! Let’s get ready to host the world!
