Bublik, who also clinched the Halle crown in 2023, has previously managed to win the titles at Montpellier in 2022 and 2024 and Antwerp in 2023. The Kazakh also added a classy touch to the win in Germany as he dedicated the title to his wife and son, who were absent on court on the day due to illness.
“Daniil, I’ve been cursed to play you forever and never won a set in my life, but today I’m happy to get through, and I wish you – you’re a great champion – I wish you a lot of success,” Bublik remarked following the win.
“I mean, to win, to beat you here, it’s a privilege for me,” he added.
Bublik began the event with a win over Frenchman Alexandre Muller before his triumph over top-ranked Jannik Sinner in the Round of 16. The Kazakh moved past Czech Thomas Machac, before edging past Karen Kanchanov in the semis, before ultimately pipping out Medvedev in the summit clash.

Medvedev, who beat home hope Alexander Zverev in the semifinal, revealed that the run at Halle was one that went deeper than he had anticipated, but added that he sought to do better as the calendar moves towards the prestigious event at SW19.
“A better week, maybe, than we expected but not the best feeling in the end,” the 29-year-old said.
“We try to do better next time,” he signed off.
