Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, made history on July 22, 2025, by becoming the second Indian batter after Mithali Raj to score over 1000 ODI runs in England. She achieved this milestone during her 30th ODI in the country, scoring over 20 runs while batting at No. 4 against England at Chester-le-Street. Harmanpreet, with three centuries and five fifties in England, also became the second non-English batter to score 1000 ODI runs in the country. Globally, she joined an elite group of just six batters, including Belinda Clark, Karen Rolton, Debbie Hockley, Charlotte Edwards, and Mithali Raj, who have scored over 1000 ODI runs in a foreign country. In the same match, she completed 4000 runs in ODI cricket, becoming the third Indian woman after Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana to do so, and the 17th overall in women’s ODI history. Harmanpreet reached the 4000-run mark in 129 innings, making her the second slowest to the milestone, ahead only of Heather Knight, who took 140 innings.
