Bemoaning a 3-3 draw, Guardiola was seen bleeding on top of his nose during the post-match conference.
Pep Guardiola has revealed how he got the injuries on his face following Manchester City’s Champions League fixture against Feyenoord. Bemoaning a 3-3 draw, Guardiola was seen bleeding on top of his nose during the post-match conference. The three-time Champions League-winning coach had a small cut with some other bruises on his face. After being questioned by a journalist, Guardiola revealed he had scratched himself with his fingers. He further said that he wanted to ‘harm’ himself because of the crushing result.
Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now shared the conference’s clip on X (formerly Twitter).
“Pep Guardiola on those cuts: “With my fingers… I want to harm myself,” Romano wrote.
Fans were surprised to see the cuts on Guardiola’s face. Many hopped into the comments section and reacted to the Manchester City manager’s cryptic words.
One of them wrote, “Damn he is losing it.”
Another suggested Pep Guardiola would soon overcome this phase. “You will get through this Pep,” he wrote.
A netizen opined that the manager’s downfall was quite shocking. “He is going through a lot. This downfall is insane.”
Another claimed that Guardiola was probably burnt out because of the stressful job. “Not good to see that kind of stress on Pep, he’s burnt out.”
One individual felt that somebody should check on the manager. “Someone needs to check on Pep. He’s losing it.”
“He’s losing the plot. Either city bounce back HARD. Or new manager. Let’s see,” wrote one more.
The Champions League action at the Etihad Stadium on November 27 saw Manchester City dominate the contest for the first 70 minutes. An Erling Haaland brace and another finish from Ilkay Gundogan gave the Premier League side the advantage. However, Guardiola’s men ended up conceding three quick goals in 15 minutes, dropping crucial points in the European competition.
Speaking about the result during the post-match conference, Guardiola claimed that the team wasn’t stable enough.
“It’s difficult to swallow right now. The game was good, we scored three and we could have scored more. At the end we are not stable enough to do it. We did a good game but then we were not able to control the last minutes,” said Guardiola, as per Manchester City’s official website.
Manchester City are now on a run of six games without a win across all competitions. They are next set to face Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Anfield on December 1.
