In an extraordinary display of cricketing prowess, 27-year-old Kapil Dev from Balghati in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, stunned spectators by scoring a remarkable double century in a T20 match. Playing for the Mandi team, Kapil Dev unleashed a barrage of boundaries, amassing 206 runs off just 78 balls during a friendly match against the IIT Mandi team at the Kamand Campus on Sunday, November 24.

Kapil Dev’s relentless attack on the bowlers left the opposition team exhausted, as they struggled to retrieve the countless balls he sent over the boundary. His efforts helped Mandi’s team post a formidable total of 263/1 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, the IIT Mandi team could only manage 135 runs, losing 5 wickets in the process, and falling far short of the target. While the match was a friendly and practice game, the full set of official rules were followed, making Kapil Dev’s achievement all the more impressive. Scoring a double century in a T20 match is a rare feat and has hardly been seen in the history of cricket.
Kapil Dev, who has been playing cricket since 2015, has represented Himachal Pradesh in various national competitions across Under-19, Under-23, and Under-25 categories. A versatile all-rounder, Kapil has also taken a hat-trick against Mumbai in the nationals.
