Honeytrap Scandal Rocks Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah Assures Probe, Says ‘Culprits Will Not Be Spared’

A massive controversy erupted after senior Congress leader and cabinet minister KN Rajanna claimed to have been targeted in a honey trap attempt.

Hours after the controversy surrounding alleged honeytrap allegations resurfaced in Karnataka politics, a massive ruckus erupted in Karnataka Assembly. Following the allegations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that an impartial probe will be carried out in connection to the matter and no one from any party involved in such activities will be spared.

A massive controversy erupted after senior Congress leader and cabinet minister KN Rajanna claimed to have been targeted in a honeytrap attempt. In addition to this, Ranjanna also claimed that as many as 48 politicians from various parties have fallen victim to honeytrap schemes.

Calling it a grave issue, Ranjanna urged the government to launch a high-level investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in the opposition in Karnataka, stormed the well of the house and raised slogans and demanding a judicial probe into the matter. The Opposition leaders were seen tearing papers before the speaker’s chair and waving CDs. The BJP members also staged a dharna, demanding probe.

Honeytrap Scandal Resurfaces In Karnataka

Soon after the controversy regarding Karnataka ministers being honey-trapped emerged in Karnataka Assembly again, Home Minister Parameshwara said that a high-level probe will be ordered after Minister KN Rajanna files a complaint in connection to the matter.

No probe can be carried out without a complaint as it would be based on speculations.

Addressing the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday, minister Ranjanna said that Karnataka has become a factory for pen drives and CDs. “I’m not the only one saying this; people are murmuring about it. I’ve been informed that 48 people have been affected by this. Even members of the Opposition have been targeted,” he added.

Rajanna further claimed that this issue extended beyond the state level. “This is not limited to our state alone. This includes pen drives of many national-level party leaders. In this regard I request to the Home Minister that, I will file a written complaint. Based on that complaint, he should get an investigation done.”

The minister then demanded a deeper investigation and urged the authorities to reveal the names of those involved in the honeytrap operations. “Who are the producers? Who are the directors? Let all this come out in public. Who are the actors? Let everyone know,” he stated.
