If you’ve ever lost a suitcase at the airport, you might think you’ll definitely get reunited with your bag.
But that’s not actually the case.
If luggage is abandoned for months and the airport can’t get in touch with the owner, it’s possible for someone else to buy it.
So what might you find inside?
TikTok creator Carmie Sellitto (@touchdalight) has shared his experience after he bought someone’s lost luggage from Heathrow Airport for £129.99.
In a TikTok video, Carmie explained: ‘All the luggage [Heathrow] sell is unclaimed. Apparently the airport do everything they can to track down the owner for months.’
Buying lost luggage is always a bargain.
While some lucky buyers might end up finding expensive luxury items, others will end up with nothing more than dirty laundry and cheap souvenirs worth much less than the money they paid for the bag.

Carmie films himself opening up the suitcase which has a briefcase and several pairs of shoes at the top.
The TikToker is unable to find out what’s inside the mysterious briefcase as it has a lock on.
He’s luckier when it comes to the shoes, with Carmie discovering that one pair is from Gucci (although they’re dirty) while another pair are Alexander McQueen.
Next, Carmie picks up a T-shirt and films himself smelling it but says the stench is ‘so bad’ he ‘gagged’.
He then discovers a Cartier shopping bag inside the suitcase with a product box inside. As he opens the box, Carmie says he’s starting to ‘freak out’ as he knows ‘how expensive Cartier stuff can be’.
However, when he opens the box, he’s disappointed to find out it’s actually empty inside. The TikToker does unearth a receipt in the bag which states that the person spent €2,400/£2,007 on the purchase.
Carmie also finds underwear and socks inside the lost suitcase which he ‘doesn’t want to touch’.
Further inside the suitcase, Carmie discovers a Prada shopping bag with a brand new handbag inside but reveals he can’t tell if the purchase is ‘real or fake’.

Finally, the TikToker finds a ‘vintage Louis Vuitton bag with a purse inside’. When he checks inside the purse, he finds the girl’s ID and decides to return the luggage to its rightful owner.
He explains: ‘I then packed everything up in the suitcase, just how it was’ and heads off on an adventure to return the bag.
TikTok users took to the comments to share their thoughts on Carmie’s lost luggage purchase.
‘Spencer Elmer’ commented: ‘Omg that’s mad, you hit the jackpot!’
Another user said: ‘I worked in an airport and people are notified of their lost luggage and have the option to go and collect it. Maybe she just didn’t want it.’
One user wasn’t tempted to make their own purchase. ‘Alycat_OO’ said: ‘My fear of bed bugs would never allow me to do this.’
Meanwhile ‘Pauline’ was worried that her own lost bag had ended up bought by someone else. She wrote: ‘Me wondering if my luggage lost by Air France and never found has been bought by someone.’
