WWE superstar Jey Uso has revealed what John Cena told him after the 16-time World Champion was eliminated at the Royal Rumble 2025. After the Samoan threw Cena over the top rope to win the men’s battle royal, the leader of the Cenation quickly hopped back inside the ring to confront the winner.
The wrestler-turned-actor said something to Jey before congratulating him with a warm hug. The former Bloodline member spoke about the spontaneous conversation in a live chat on Nightcap. “He [John Cena] hugged me. He goes, ‘I remember your first tour. I said, I always told you and your brother, you guys will be fine.’” Jey said, quoted via SportsKeeda.
Speaking further, Jey claimed that Cena just wanted the Samoan to be himself in his journey in the WWE. “‘Be yourself.’ And he goes, ‘Look at these people now.’ And that’s when he turned me to the crowd,” Jey added.
Jey made history at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis last week, becoming the latest individual to win the men’s Royal Rumble match. The Samoan is now set to headline WrestleMania 41, in a championship match of his choosing. His victory at the premium live event proved to be a shock for several fans and critics as no one had anticipated this result. With stars like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena and CM Punk participating in the event, Jey’s chances of winning seemed negligible. After an intense battle, however, Jey and Cena emerged as the last two men standing.
Speaking about the moment in the Royal Rumble post-show press conference, Jey acknowledged that it was special. “[That moment was] emotional. I’m in there face-to-face with the crowd going crazy. It is crazy, but because I can’t hear nobody but him,” Uso noted, as per Wrestling INC. “[Cena said] ‘Before we start getting to rocking, I’m happy for you, Uce.’ I enjoy the little real things that happened in there that slide through. I take it to heart. I never would’ve thought it would be John Cena and me, the final two. His a** almost got me twice in there, but glad though. I’m very glad it was John Cena,” Jey concluded.
Jey is now weeks away from headlining WrestleMania this year. It remains to be seen if he can walk out of the Show of the Shows with a championship belt around his waist. As for John Cena, the legendary superstar will participate in the 2025 Elimination Chamber for another shot at a potential 17th World Championship triumph.
