Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal earlier said, “RBI should definitely cut interest rates.”
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das was speaking at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday said he would like to reserve his comments on the rate action for the December 2024 monetary policy. His comment comes after Union Minister Piyush Goyal urged the central bank to “definitely” for a rate cut in December 2024.
“I like to reserve my comments on rate action for December policy,” said Shaktikanta Das while speaking at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit.
Before him, at the same event, when asked about the upcoming RBI MPC meeting in December 2023, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said, “RBI should definitely cut interest rates.”
Goyal also said the average inflation in India in the last 10 years of the Modi government has been the lowest since Independence.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the Indian economy is sailing through smoothly due to stable financial system.
