However, the ICC is yet to make the announcement and it remains to be seen where India’s games would officially be held. Both PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been engaging in a heated battle with regard to hosting the tournament.

The Champions Trophy is set to make its return after seven years with Pakistan being the defending champions after they beat India by 180 runs to claim the title in The Oval.

“Even the signing of the hosting rights was delayed until late last year within the PCB because they wanted a clear answer from the ICC and BCCI on this issue,” he added.

It would not be an easy decision for the PCB to pull out if the hybrid model is not accepted in entirety by the ICC and the BCCI.

“Pakistan has not only signed a host agreement with the ICC but like all other participating nations in the event, it has also signed a mandatory Members’ Participation Agreement (MPA) with the ICC,” a PCB administrator told PTI.
