Reading out the message, Melvin said:’Someone’s looking after my page and she goes, “Please give him my best, he’s done so well, heart emoji”‘
Clearly thrilled with his luxury item, Melvin proudly displayed it to his campmates before heading to the Bush Telegraph to explain why the former Countdown star earned a spot on the pillow.
Melvin said: ‘My dad, my mum and Carol Vorderman. My crush.
‘I have been a fan of Carol Vorderman for a very long time – in fact, I have a little rap.’
He then recited: ‘I know a woman so fine, she’s mature like a fine wine. The mandem can’t comprehend my 10 out of 10 Carol Vorderman, woo. I wanna work her out, check your DMs girl and I’ll be waiting.’
Carol, who has been keeping up with the show, was quick to respond and sent him a message by calling into spin off show I’m a Celebrity… Unpacked.
Sending in a cheeky voice note, she teased that he’d soon be taking on her last name.
Carol said: ‘Melvin… or should I say jungle man, Melvin Vorderman. Right, question, have you been spying on me? Because only last night I had little Thai food…’
She then added: ‘Jungle man, keep doing what you are doing, you’re doing a brilliant job. see you on other side.’
Carol sent a cheeky message to Melvin on I’m a Celebrity… Unpacked after he admitted to having a crush on her
Radio host Melvin revealed his celebrity crush to his campmates on Tuesday’s episode after they received their luxury items and doubled down the following night
The following day, Carol took to her Instagram and shared the clip of Melvin revealing his crush on her and her response.
Alongside the post, she penned: ‘Well hello @melvinodoom, or shall I say Melvin Vorderman or Jungle Man which sounds very much like Vorder Man?
‘I’m having so much fun watching the camp mates having a joke with Melvin in the jungle and you did a great impression. So what do you think guys?’
Melvin has always been private about his love life. In a recent interview, he said: ‘Dating is hard. For me, don’t shut yourself off from anything because your potential partner could be anywhere. You have to chill and go with the flow, you can’t control love.’
Carol, who has had two stints in the jungle herself, has been open about her five ‘special friends’ who she has relationships with – but ‘doesn’t do one night stands.’
The presenter previously said her lovers are all single.
Melvin’s luxury item was a personalised pillow which had family photos and a picture of Carol in a striking red leather dress from last year’s ITV Palooza in London

She said: ‘One’s been a friend for 11 years, one for seven. My kids [Katie, 33, and Cameron, 27], know most of them.’
Carol admitted she relishes the independence and the freedom the setup gives her and says there is no problem with her partners wanting more intimacy than it offers, ‘as long as you’re all honest and have a good time’.
All involved are single – she works on the principle that you should ‘do no harm’ – and if one met somebody else, it’d be fine.
She continued: ‘I’m not a jealous person and I’m happy when my friends are happy, whether they are “special friends” or not.
‘The goal of my life is to be happy, not to be in love. I just find people interesting and life interesting.
‘And you can get to a stage where you choose which bits you enjoy. You can’t in your 30s because you’re making your way in your career, you’re beholden to bosses and all those sorts of things. But in your 60s…’
Carol has been single since she split from journalist Des Kelly in 2007, after being married twice, first to Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986 and then to second husband Patrick King from 1990 until 2000 – the father of her two children.
